A statement about the 14th December 2025  Bondi shootings.

The tragic shooting at Bondi Beach has deeply affected our neighbourhood.

It has now been confirmed very clearly that the attack was motivated by anti-Semitism. As a church, we strongly stand against any anti-semitism. It goes against good. It is evil.

We are heartbroken at the loss of life. We are praying for the families and friends who have lost loved ones. Our hearts go out to all who have been directly and indirectly affected by these tragic acts of violence. We are also mindful that many in the wider community are carrying serious injuries, shock and grief.

This is a moment for us to work collaboratively with our neighbours across Bondi.

If you have Jewish friends, please reach out to them with love, kindness, and supportive words. Pray for them, uphold them, and stand with them. Across our congregations, we all have connections and friendships with people who will be feeling the weight of this.

Please be assured that the Bondi Anglican Church ministry staff are praying for you.

If you need support or someone to talk with, you can email or text us, and we will respond as best we can. Anglicare has opened its counselling line to support anyone impacted. Please use this service or share it with anyone who may benefit—Anglicare Counselling hotline: 1300 651 728.
